TESTIMONY

by Bob Savino

Poured out like wax melting in the blistering heat
Poured out punchy from a smashed-up washing machine
Poured out by the supervisor with a lousy attitude
Poured out through the throbbing of my right heel

Poured out with glaucoma bad teeth double hernias
Poured out alone on worn sheets in a deserted bed
Poured out as my brain stutters like a scratched CD
Poured out because I'm alive because soon I'll die

Poured out for haters for lovers for demons for God
Poured out no matter how hard I try to suppress it
Poured out pissing and moaning laughing and wailing
Poured out dreading the jackhammer breathing dust

Poured out till I scrape the bottom of the barrel
Poured out beyond what I thought I could suffer
Poured out watching the midnight sky tumble down
Poured out bleeding crack babies and murdered toys

Poured out digging the grave for a shotgunned dog
Poured out raging on anyway refusing to surrender
Poured out cajoling my worst fears into singing
Poured out sprouting from the earth like a crocus

Poured out stupefied under the cataracts of the stars
Poured out knowing and breathing and becoming it all
Poured out while I swim in an ocean of boundlessness
Poured out! Unstintingly! For you! And you. And you...
